9/17/2025 (berlin)

Klaus: Es tut uns beiden so leid, dass das passiert ist. Ich weiß, dass es wichtig ist, dass wir auf dem Hof ​​weitermachen, aber das ist das Leben auch. Wie du weißt, fahren wir morgen zurück. Möglich ist, dass ich die letzten drei Oktoberwochen nach Berlin zurückkomme. Erstens, damit ich dir so viel Zeit wie möglich auf dem Hof ​​geben kann, ohne mich zu verletzen oder krank zu werden. Zweitens kommt Thomas Mitte Oktober nach Berlin. Natürlich muss ich etwas Zeit mit meinem Sohn verbringen.

Was die Versicherung angeht: Dieses Mal hatten wir Glück und ich konnte mit der Karte bezahlen. Wir haben einen Versicherungsmakler gefunden, der uns eine Euro-Versicherung auf Monatsbasis besorgen kann, die uns den gleichen Versicherungsschutz wie allen anderen bietet, nur auf einem höheren Niveau. Außerdem arbeiten wir mit Emiliano an einer weiteren Idee für eine echte Euro-Krankenversicherung.

Lieber Thomas und Kathi:   Wir hoffen das Ihr gut nach hause seid. Es tut unsd so unglaublisch leid das wir konnten mit euch die Stadt ganz erfahren ... Morgen, fliegen wir zuruck nach Seattle. Das unfestiches plan ist das Dave nochmal zuruck nach berlin die letzte drei wochen in Oktober fliegen werden. Meistens fur Klau am hof zu helfen ... und naturnich zeit mit Thomas (und Hartmut) zu haben. Wir lieben euch ... Es war naturlich schlimm, aber es konnte viel schlimmer sein. 9/16/2025 (berlin)

Well, here's another letter to you all. Dan got a cortisone shot, without the operation. The plan now is to head back to the US on Thursday. The entire 4 days of being in the hospital came to $2300 ... Paid. He's feeling better already. Now, let's see if we can get on the plane. 

It's now Tuesday morning... Wish us luck for getting him home.

2:39 PM 9/13/2025 (berlin)

An update ... We went to bed after I changed the trip back to the US from Monday to Saturday. Dan woke up in complete agony and said, I can barely get dressed, let alone get on a train to the airport and get on 2 planes back to Seattle ... it's not going to happen!

So, at 7am, we went back to the klikum and checked him into the hospital for surgery on Monday. He's in good care, I don't have to always be in a panic and he'll get good care here in Berlin.

I think the plan will be to stay the entire trip time (end of October)... one day at a time!

2:34 PM 9/13/2025 (berlin)

OK, here goes ... I'm doing a single message to everyone because it's too much.
Dan went to sleep on Thursday night with a back pain and woke up on Friday in horrible pain,
so much so that we went to the Charlottenburg Klinikum here in Berlin.

To make a long story short, he has a badly compressed 6th vertebrae disc that is pinching a
nerve and he needs medical attention back in Seattle. 

We had to cancel out time with family in Edinburgh and we were going to stay until the end of October ....
but nope, we have to head back to Seattle on Monday afternoon.

We've agreed that I'll come back to Berlin for 2 or 3 weeks to help with the farm in October.
I'll keep you all posted ... Too tired to say more ... it's been a crazy 24 hours.
