about DMH

Bio

David Miles Huber is a 4X Grammy-nominated producer and musician in the electronic dance and surround-sound genres, whose music has sold over the million mark. His dance performance style is energized and balanced out by lush beats and live acoustic instruments that combine to create a “Zen-meets-Tech Experience”. His latest music and collaborations can be heard at www.davidmileshuber.com and davidmileshuber.bandcamp.com.

DMH has performed all over the US and Central Europe using his in-studio tools (Steinberg Nuendo), on-stage performance tools (Ableton Live) and wireless iPad controller (zero-debug Touchable3). It’s been said that he plays a “mean computer”, iPad, MIDI toys, ethnic flutes, vocals and any kind of percussion he can get his hands on … then he combines these into a complex project that is not DJ’ed, but is actually performed live.

DMH received his degree in music technology from Indiana University and the University of Surrey in Guildford, England. His most prominent book Modern Recording Techniques is the standard recording industry text worldwide.

Those who know me know that my site & logo used to be 51bpm. In fact, if you type in www.51bpm.com, my new site name will show up. So … why 51bpm? One of the first pieces of gear that I acquired was my Raven synth from quasimidi. It’s definitely meant to tear out in a German techno-style at 130+ bpm. However, being the downtempo guy that I am, I cranked the bpm down to as low as it goes (which happens to be 51bpm)… damn, does it sound lush, full and very “analogy”! Since then, I’ve gotten a few other pieces of quasimidi gear and the bpm name stuck with me. Even though I now work at higher tempos, I still have a soft spot for well-crafted chill beats. Coincidently, the “51” works very well with my passion for working in surround… and thus 51bpm.com was born… and then retired.

My talented brother also made a painting of his kid brother getting his first Grammy nomination … How awesome is that!
