but you can't do both - a life's story
Earliest Years ...
My first recollections, of course, revolve around audio. being the baby of three sisters and a brother, my early years centered around being shuffled around by my bigger sisiters, who had to babysit me. I remember very clearly being at a friend's (or boyfriend's ) house and being asked to get a record for my sister. It was called "My Baby Loves the Western Movies" .. it had a bright pink label with a carousel on it (Carousel Records). This was before I could read. They'd ask me for a record, I'd relate the music to the color and artwork and give them the record to play.
I was also accused of throwing records at my sisters when I was mad at them (Bad Dave!), as well as accidentally sitting on them when they were left in the car ... and they weren't cheap.
I've always had an aptitude for mechanical things. A typical example was when I got a Victrola record player. Of course, I immediately took it apart and was so young that I couldn't put it back together again, I was devastated. The same went to a Mr Machine toy that I couldn't put back together ... unfortunately, my Dad wasn't much of a mechanic ... so I just went without. Lesson learned ... maybe.
